Following on from the last post, the recycled yarns arrived and I have to say some were a little disappointing.
These are they:
These are they:
From the top: recycled sari silk, recycled cotton, banana yarn, mulberry silk yarn.
The sari silk yarn is not, as I'd hoped, beautiful bright colours, spun into a smooth silky yarn but rather reminiscent of old dreadlocks, fine on someone's head but not for jewellery I think. The cotton isn't too bad though has a tendency to unwind. The banana and mulberry silk yarns are softer but not smooth, they are very uneven and inclined to tangling. I definitely would not like to try and knit with them.
Here are some bangles made using the recycled cotton yarn:

I made a couple with the sari silk yarn but they were so awful that I cut the yarn off and rewrapped them in something else.
Next is a bangle and hoop earrings wrapped with the mulberry silk yarn. I would prefer them not to be so lumpy but handspun yarn is going to be so I guess.
I have also made a bangle with the banana yarn but it is so uneven in texture I feel it may go the same way as the sari silk bangles.
Still, one has to try these things, I definitely prefer the results from the bouclé yarns though.
TTFN.
