I don't know if it's the cold weather but I've dragged out my knitting needles (I always want to type kneedles there). I've been window shopping all kinds of fancy yarns and patterns with dreams of turning out beautiful lacy shawls and whatnot, maybe one day. However, the impending birth of my newest niece has led me into unfamiliar knitting territory - the baby bootee. I'm a novice knitter at best so this was a small challenge, I succeeded though and these are they:
Yes, they are black. What did you expect? I have made a white pair in case her parents aren't imaginative enough to put her in a black pair. Not everyone is.
Whilst I've been faffing about with yarn I've made a couple of yarn wrapped bangles by way of an experiment.

The yarn is some odd lengths I bought from a craft shop and is blanket-stitched around 16 gauge wire. I like them a lot more than I thought I would, I generally don't go for that kind of thing. I have just ordered a pile of recycled sari silk which has been spun into yarn along with some recycled cotton (ditto) some banana yarn and some mulberry silk yarn for some further experiments.
